Lega Metoko Iginga figurine
This Lega statuette is one of the so-called "iginga" objects. They were the property of officers of the initiating Bwami society which governed the social and moral order among the Lega.
The streaks and the lines of the faces very geometrical let think that a stylistic influence of African art Metoko even Kumu, two ethnic groups fairly close geographically, has imprinted the sculptor Lega in the design of this piece.
