Bwami's artistic corpus in African art

This headdress or headgear is part of bilondo, emblematic emblems and honorific Bwami that serve to publicly proclaim the rank and status of the owner of bilondo within the brotherhood.It is a headdress in vegetable fibers decorated with cowrie shells.

The chosen materials are not simply aesthetic but reflect especially the rank of the insider. We also find in the frame of Bwami, masks and statues in wood, ivory and bone, and many other objects.
