Bini Edo bronze plate
The royal art of Benin
Court objects are as important as the heads of kings or queens proper to the court of the Kingdom of Benin City.
Plates cast with lost wax, retrace, as in the style of picture books, the important and glorifying facts related to the Oba / Kings. Designed to be seen as pictures with images of the royal entourage, they were nailed to the walls or columns of palaces.
They are pieces of excellence of the museums in the royal palaces of Benin.
Very beautiful plate, with many very fine details, and folded edges for fixation. The bottom of the plaque reproduces clearly visible clover leaves.
It is a piece made in the style of those centuries old visible in the British Museum, see attached photo.
