This Kongo Yombe statuette probably comes from the hand of an experienced artist. A classic position of the genre, the hands adjoining the magic charge that the wizard chief "bilongo" presented to him. The patina is the most significant element of this work, it undoubtedly bears witness to repetitive use and more than appreciable age. Note also that the eyes are set with glass, which is supposed to increase clairvoyance. A perfect balance of forms is also to be emphasized, the expression of the face is striking.
