This work comes from the know-how of the Bamana or Numu blacksmiths, masters of fire, forging all the iron objects used in everyday life.
Having the power to melt the ore into iron, the blacksmiths must protect themselves from its dangerous force. Only a few blacksmiths had the skills required to create ritual irons composed of male or female characters often mounted on horses.
