Rare highly stylized statue from the Dogon, a famous ethnic group inhabiting the Bandiagara cliff region, Mali.
We find in this piece all the abstraction of African Dogon art. Geometric body, even the facial features seem schematic. This is a figure related to ancestor worship bearing the name of Ya Pilu Dege.
The erosion present on the piece testifies to its use and age.
