Polychromy in traditional African art

African wooden statue with patina whose polychromy has been very well preserved. It is similar to the stylistic current that represented the European settlers present in Côte d'Ivoire in the middle of the 20th century. This particular statuary came into existence following the passage of Westerners whether on commission, as a souvenir or in order to parody the sunburned skin of white people.
