Very beautiful and fine anthropomorphic janus whistle with a lustrous patina from the Songye

According to Bastin in Journal de la Société de musique africaine, 1992, vol. 7, n° 2, p. 24, : in war, it was used to encourage men to march into battle, arousing enthusiasm and shouts among the warriors.
