Bamileke chief knife
This remarkable African knife whose blade is finely chiseled with patterns and aesthetically arched comes from the very important collection of tribal art of Belgian designer and sculptor Claude Renard.
The resounding success of the auction of the Renard collection via the Catawiki auction platform caused a veritable earthquake in the world of traditional African art and beyond.
Lovers of beautiful, rare pieces were very sensitive to the passion that this renowned artist put into putting together this set of several hundred pieces covering a large number of ethnic groups from all over Africa.
In addition to the intrinsic quality of the carefully selected pieces, his wife wanted to pay tribute to him through a beautiful book "Shapes of Africa" prefaced by their close friend, Yves Vasseur, journalist and author.
