Yaoure Mask of Gye - SOLD OUT
True little treasure, this mask is endowed with a rare finesse of sculpture, the lines are fine and attractive, it does honor to the stylistic corpus of the Baoulé masters. It is composed of an oval face with an outline including a white pigmented collar, a long straight nose and coffee bean eyes with thin slits. The top of the forehead is composed of flat braids and surmounted by an elaborate cap. The headdress is composed of a pair of curved horns turned towards each other, between the pair of horns emanates a vertical projection with at the top a bird posing proudly. The interior of the mask testifies to the age of this object, traces of wear and use are visible, the wood is dry and not patinated inside as it should be.
