Among the Fang, there is a supra-clan association, the Ngil, which is the main agent of unity between the different clans, on the political or judicial level. The great masters of the Ngil enjoyed total immunity in the exercise of their function. The purpose of the Ngil was to expose sorcerers and put them to death. It tried to resolve conflicts between clans peacefully. The Ngil manifests itself when one wants to discover the sorcerers in a village, at the request of the inhabitants, after one or more unexplained deaths. The masked man was helped in his office by a young boy who warned the women of his arrival.
