Wé Guéré Mask - SOLD OUT

African masks from West Africa

Among the We, masks belong to the clan and their powers are limited to the lineage. This mask was brought out at the time of a family member's funeral to honour the memory of the deceased. We masks combine human and animal forms in oversized features; the accumulation of heterogeneous elements makes this composition qualified as the art of the aggregate.

Origin :

A large part of the objects in this collection were given as a donation to the Geneva Museum of Ethnography in the 1980s. We are committed to providing detailed information on request.
