Songye Tempa Mask - SOLD OUT
The diversity of African Songye masks from the DRC
This Songye - Tempa mask, close to the Tetela - Sungu is a very rare type of mask. Composed of numerous geometric motifs, this mask is most expressive with its protruding mouth and its three summit appendages. A mask of the same type is currently owned by the Barbier-Mueller Museum, Geneva (Switzerland), under ref. 1026-24 see attached black and white photo. The resemblance is striking.
