pongdudu Boa mask

The Boa style: Archaism and primitivism

Unpublished mask from the corpus of rare Boa masks. The mask has a regular oval face, a prominent forehead, a broadly blunt nose and a mouth showing sculpted teeth.

The primitivism that emerges from this mask is distinguished by a wild character. Of great antiquity, this mask corresponds to the archaic style prior to the masks of more classical typology.
