In Luba t Songye African art, the masks of the Bwadi Bwa Kifwebe society sometimes appear in the form of an animal face, it is probably an owl, a bird found in Luba iconography.

The sculptural treatment has the same basics as the classic kifwebe masks, the mask being vertical and striated, encrusted with colored pigments.

Originally, the mask was accompanied by a costume of vegetable fibers attached to the perforations around the edge of the mask.
