Hemba Soko Mutu mask
This traditional African mask is the representation of an ape-like face with an open mouth and a pointed nose and is called Soko Mutu.
The Hemba of the Democratic Republic of Congo used it during rites dedicated to the protection of the home or to fertility. The Hemba also carved Soko Mutu of smaller sizes to be carried in the hand and used as passport masks.
