Mblo mask - Baule - Ivory Coast - SOLD OUT

African mask of rejoicing and festivities, here surmounted by a zoomorphic representation, probably a hyena devouring another animal.

The mask is convex, covered with a dark and smooth patina on the facies obtained using natural pigments and libations.

There is a detailed goatee and scarification.

Esthetics is of great importance in Baoulé art as it is directly related to the cultural meaning of objects. This is why we always observe in their artistic corpus a balance and a great care given to the details.
