Mwana Pwo Chokwe mask - SOLD OUT
The traditional African Pwo masks like this one, with their characteristic frontal scarring, represent the ideal chokwe woman and mother. The braided fibers behind the masks allow them to be attached to the dancer's head.
There are scars on the face and forehead, as well as sharp teeth. The dimensions of this mask probably do not allow to wear it on the head, so it is probably a passport mask for the identification of his wearer as an individual chokwe. African art.
