This African art neckrest is characteristic of the style of the Teke-Mfinu, an ethnic group from the Republic of Congo (Congo Brazza).
The Bateke are a famous ethnic of the Stanley Pool region.
This symmetrical and highly stylized neckrest features nice wear as well as metal studs.
A similar model is known in the collection of the Royal Museum for Central Africa as well as another at the Brooklyn Museum.
