Rare traditional African art object: Salampasu dancer figure
In the Salampasu, African masks and statues are made as part of the initiation. They symbolize the three ranks of society: hunters, warriors and chief. This figure is equipped with a small typical removable mask whose facies is intended to inspire fear with its cut teeth and powerful expression. In the past, brotherhoods of salampasu warriors practiced ritual anthropophagy.
