Lupona prestige seats in African tribal art Luba

This African Lupona stool, typical of prestigious objects produced by this people of Central Africa, is composed of a standing female figure supporting the seat in the manner of caryatids. The arms raised and folded at right angles, it is his fingers that keep the seat circular 24 cm from the ground.

The chest is prominent, the flat and elongated torso contrasts with very small legs. The body is strewn with scarification while the face, very delicately modeled, is prolonged by a hairstyle with two stages in the back. The piece has a beautiful glossy patina. This piece, with its cap, is inspired by the famous "master of cascading hair".

This tribal Lupona stool was purchased by a collector. Our art gallery has others. Contact us.
