Beaded doll - Baggara - Sudan - SOLD

Traditional dolls in African art

This type of traditional doll usually focuses on the subject of fertility. The Baggara are a nomadic people from Sudan, Chad and Nigeria. This terminology is actually an aptonym since the word baggara means "cow", in connection with their activity of nomadic pastoralists.

The room is slender, decorated with many necklaces of pearls and buttons. The face is stylized, the neck is elongated. The small arms while decorated with cowrie shells are reminiscent of Fali dolls.
