Potomo Waka Slingshot - Baule - Ivory Coast
Slingshots or slingshots in African art
African slingshots or slingshots are found in the Baule and some other Mandé ethnic groups. They are often figurative as is the case here, the neck is often endowed with one or more representations of heads or a complete body inspired by their body of work.
The Baoulé are renowned for the quality and finesse of their sculpture, composed mainly of statues and an extremely rich variety of masks, but also many everyday objects or related to ceremonies.
