Senoufo stool - SOLD AT AUCTION

Senoufo African art is one of the first to be admired by Westerners. Their artistic production is plentiful as evidenced by their many famous statues as well as their rich variety of sometimes impressive masks. Their artistic corpus is characterized by a mixture of realistic details combined with pure geometric shapes, playing on the empty and the full.

Senoufo are found in a region stretching between Côte d'Ivoire, Mali and Burkina Faso.
Here you can see stool with a slightly curved seat supported by four feet. It has a beautiful patina due to age and wear. Like stools in African tribal art, stools were very personal items that were generally passed down only from generation to generation.
