Kongo powder flask
Usual objects of the Kongo people
Collection art africain François-Charles, L. Bazelaire, Belgique
This gourd-shaped powder flask is one of the rarest forms used by the Kongo people. Its style is inspired by a model introduced by the Portuguese, it is decorated with pyrographic motifs and has kept its original cord. Beautiful patina of use.
