The fertility doll in African art
A wooden figure of a female represented in abstract form. The head is dome shaped and has the hair in two crests to the top of the head. The nose is represented as a wedge to the bottom of the hair and there is a drilled eye and wide, crescent shaped mouth. The thick neck rests on the flat shoulders and the body is column shaped with breasts and navel. The waist is represented as a flared skirt to the base. Mwana Hiti doll.
