Fanti Fertility doll - SOLD OUT
African dolls are no ordinary toy. The function of this figurine was to prepare girls for marriage and increase their chances of becoming mothers. These are above all magical objects that should be pampered to make them effective. The main feature of Fanti dolls is the rectangular shape of their head, which sets it apart from the famous circular faces of Ashanti dolls.
However, it sometimes happens that the rectangle gives way to a naturalistic face like that of this clear sculpture bleached with kaolin. This naturalism is sometimes also found in hairstyles and by the presence of arms or legs, which is very rarely the case in Akua ba representations of Ashanti.
