Kongo Nkisi fetish figure

African Nkisi fetishes of the Bakongo

An African fetish of the Kongo people standing firmly on its two legs. This Kongo statue is in a position where the upper body is slightly bent forward, carrying its multiple magical charges in an original state. Its broad neck supports a head that is slightly tilted back, with an open mouth, hemmed lips and a flat, blunt nose with a prominent central ridge. The fetish supports a load on its back made of amalgams, vegetable fibre and cloth, and on its torso an impressive magic receptacle closed by a mirror covered with sacrificial material.

The object is in a beautiful state of preservation, in its original state and dated to the middle of the 20th century.
