Lega Iginga figure - SOLD OUT
African statue depicting an owl, an animal present in the Lega culture. This type of figurine, like the other "Iginga", was used in African art as part of the Bwami initiation which instilled in every Lega individual the foundations of morality and social order. As part of this initiation, the senior officers taught young recruits, men and women, precepts using traditional objects such as small and large masks (Lukwakongo, Idimu, Muminia, ...), figurines of wood, bone or ivory. We will not fail to notice the phallic shape of the piece, linking wisdom and masculine power.
