Traditional art and scarification among the Lulua

African statue from the Luluwa in Congo. It is recognized by its shapes but above all by its exceptional scarifications covering the entire body as was customary among the Lulua. We also observe here a long ringed neck and a perfectly preserved complex headdress.
Beautiful dark and smooth patina obtained by multiple applications of palm oil during the ritual life of this figurine which was an effigy or a royal object.
