Baule Blolo Bian figure

Superb African Baule statue whose body, face and headdress are clear witnesses of the technical mastery of the sculptor who made this exceptional piece.

The traditional statues blolo bian (masculine) and blolo bla (feminine) are a receptacle of the dark side of the person who finds there his soul, the reversed double of himself and above all the energy which gives him peace and trust.

The kra of the Akan sovereign, his soul, also regularly aspires to be regenerated for himself, for the fertility of the soil, for the well-being of the population.

After a family worship, these statuettes are kept in the room of the person concerned and they are regularly venerated.

Each week, the couple separates to sleep alone, close to this mysterious presence which fills their imagination, channels their libido and restores their vital energy.

The statue reveals the invisible; it in no way incarnates the figure of the living being but its mysterious double which is inverted. I don't know what would be sculpted in our current universe.

The importance of androgyny, of male and female beings, is essential in the thought of the Akan and therefore Baule (Côte d'Ivoire).

In this case, each statue is unique, unrelated to that of the real spouse.

In other words, worship is individual.

In other cases, such as the cult of the Goli, a certain complementarity arises and the notion of couple is more accurate.
