Akan figure - SOLD OUT
In African art, the Ashanti and Akan are renowned for their trade in precious materials with the Portuguese, who were the first to establish trading posts along the so-called gold coast. Becoming wealthy thanks to these exchanges, the Ashanti produced numerous bronze figurines whose use could be to weigh the gold they supplied to the Portuguese against objects from Europe.
We observe here an African statue representing a very finely carved dignitary and with many details.
