Owl Lega figure - SOLD OUT
This statue of African art features an owl, an animal present in the Lega culture. This type of figurine, like the other "Iginga", was used as part of the Bwami initiation which instilled in every individual Lega the foundations of morality and social order. As part of this initiation, senior officers taught young recruits, men and women, precepts using traditional objects such as masks large and small (Lukwakongo, Idimu, Muminia, ...), figurines made of wood, bone or ivory.
