Lega natte Katanda figure - SOLD OUT
In African art, according to Lega thought, traditional statues of the matte type (Katanda) evoke laziness and sexual laxity. A person of mild morality (whose mat is the metaphor) sows discord within a community, in the same way that a colony of red ants besieges a city (as insiders say).
African figurines like these were used as part of the Bwami initiation. Consult our site to know more about it. Superb quality piece from eastern Congo in the forest area where the Lega are located near the great lakes.
