Lega Iginga figurine - SOLD OUT
African monoxyl wooden figurine from the Lega in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. This figurine was the property of a Bwami initiate who used it for the initiation of young members in whom the principles of life in society, beliefs and moral behavior within the Lega company were inculcated.
All Lega masks and figurines related to the Bwami carry a hidden meaning that only initiates can interpret and know. They are morals expressed in the form of aphorisms, like little fables.
