Lega Mugugundu figure - SOLD OUT
Anthropo-zoomorphic statues in Lega African art
Rare object of African art: traditional Lega statuette of the Mugugundu type in a standing position. This is an unusual typology. The anthropomorphic body is surmounted by a zoomorphic upper part, testifying to the impregnation of the Lega sculptors by the spirits of the bush and the imagination that surrounds them. Pretty old brown patina. This statuette was used as part of the Bwami initiation.
