Zande drum
Ancient African slot drum of Zande origin (in Bas-Uele), northern region of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
This drum from the mid 20th century is in the form of a bovid animal so the body constitutes the resonance box. Note the presence of pretty engraved geometric patterns.
Traditional drums are known particularly in northern Congo where some examples could reach impressive dimensions of several meters long.
