Chokwe pretty woman mask - SOLD OUT

This African mask is identifiable by its very realistic style, which seems to have frozen the expression of a Chokwe woman in wood. On the front, the famous cross scarification of the Chokwe and related ethnic groups. We observe scarifications under the eyes corresponding to the tears of the mother who sees her daughter in the prime of life, leaving the parental home with her husband. The look is here enhanced with white pigment. Female masks such as this one called Mwana Pwo are worn only by men.

The patina seems very worn and shows an important use of this mask.
