Wobe Dan musician mask

West African Ceremonies and Masks

African mask with a worn clear patina but still including its ritual accessories. In the region bordering the border between Côte d'Ivoire and Liberia, we find masks with similarities to those of the Dan but with more extruded and exaggerated features. By these, the so-called musicians masks who carry bells. This one, in addition to his big bell, also wears an old beard made of vegetable fibers or hair. The internal patina testifies to intensive use of the mask.
