Lega Idimu mask
Bwami brotherhood mask
Ovoid African mask which still has a thick layer of white pigment called kaolin. This is a traditional Lega mask of the idimu type.
Like the lukwakongo, the lukungu and the muminia, this mask was used by the initiates of the bwami brotherhood in order to transmit wisdom to young people.
This mask was not worn on the face but carried by hand or placed on some sort of ritual panel.
