Lega Idimu mask
African mask almost entirely covered with a thick kaolin patina. This characteristic as well as the typology of the face make it possible to attribute it to the famous Lega in Congo. It is an Idimu type mask, quite personal in opposition to the "Lukwakongo" masks. This mask was kept by a high member of the Bwami association intended to inculcate the social values of life. Special feature of this mask, the embossed scarifications that adorn the forehead and cheeks. It could therefore be that they come from an ethnic group peripheral to the Lega but having adopted the principles of Bwami.
Mask supplied with document of origin.
