Agrarian rites in Senufo art
This African mask bears the generic name of Kpeliye. It is a representation of an ancestor belonging to the secret society Lo and danced during funeral, agrarian and initiation rites. It comes from the Korhogo region. There are duplicate copies, with two juxtaposed faces.
In terms of style, we can easily identify the Senufo aesthetic canons by the prognathic mouth, the scarifications, the top bird and the lateral appendages. Piece in good condition and bearing traces of use.
