Senufo Kpeliye mask
The headdress adjoining the Senoufo Kpeliye African mask determines its function. It is minor when it comes to Koddalu used in common ceremonies and sumptuous for a Korrigo present at the beginning of the initiation rite, with a view to the acquisition of knowledge by neophytes.
This type of mask is one of the most representative of Senufo art and has inspired multiple copies.
This is a superb example of a very finely carved Kpeliye mask, surmounted by a representation of a chameleon. Perfect state of preservation.
