Bamana Tyi Wara crest mask
Beautiful classic example of a Tyi Wara or Ci Wara crest mask of the Bamana, an ethnic group from Mali. This famous typology of African art object represents the antelope and was worn during rites linked to Bambara agrarian festivals.
The specimen offered here is a female carrying her young on her back. We find the high stylization, the long horns and a fine sculptural work in view of the decoration of fine motifs.
