Ram mask Baule - SOLD OUT
The ram in the form of African mask Baoulé
If for most ethnic groups, the tribal masks represent mythical characters, ancestors or geniuses of the bush, among the Baoulé cons, who are in turn convinced that the spirits are integral parts of the coins, the masks have a character especially sacred.
In addition, the Baoul tribal art quickly conquered the eyes of collectors by the technical mastery and aesthetic quality exhibited by the sculptors of the ethnic group, pushing this corpus to be regarded as the top level of the success in terms of attention to detail and aesthetic concern.
This African mask represents here the ram. Note the smooth and old patina and the perfect state of preservation. A bird overhangs the mask, head turned to the side.
