Exceptional African mask from the Chokwe in Angola. This ethnic group is famous for its female and male masks (Mwana Pwo and Ci Hongo). Depending on the region and country, the style can vary greatly. Here, this mask presents an exceptional typology worthy of the greatest museum pieces.
The forehead is remarkably swollen compared to the lower face, which is narrow.
Elements such as dentition, eyes and scarifications are finely carved. A beautiful rope headdress is still present. Patina of the most beautiful style.
