Baali mask - SOLD OUT
African mask with simple and soft shapes. The contours of the flat face extend into the bridge of the nose which separates the two perfectly circular gaping eyes. The face is split in two by the use of light pigment on one side, and dark on the other.
This Baali mask comes from the Ituri region, in the northeastern Congolese. In this region, many small ethnic groups with often blurred physical and cultural borders use a large number of very varied masks as part of initiatory dances sometimes lasting several days without stopping.
