Baoule maternity figure

In African art, maternity statues are omnipresent.
Here, it is a copy clearly from the Baoulé in Côte d'Ivoire. The posture is classic, sitting with the child in the palm of the hand.
The mother rests on an Akan style stool. Scarifications are present. High detailed headdress.
The child seems to want to grab the chest to drink from it.
Old brown patina. Maternities of this type were carved in honor of the fertile woman and kept in the hut by her husband.
