Chokwe headrest
Superb African neckrest from Angola. This one comes from the Chokwe ethnic group. The fact that this art object is monoxyle indicates the great sculptural mastery of the artist who made it. A figure stands crouched, decorating the base. The pillars are finely decorated.
Beautiful smooth light brown patina. The higher the sculptural quality, the higher the rank of its owner, because it took a lot of money to afford the services of a talented sculptor.
