Kusu Hemba Caryatid stool - SOLD OUT
Among the Luba as well as among related groups such as the Hemba and Kusu, stools are first of all prestigious objects before being everyday objects.
The stool presented here by our gallery of African art is composed of a base on which rest two squatting figures leaning against each other. In the Kusu style, both hold their sage goatee in their hands. Their cap is well detailed. At the top rests the seat. Zigzag uprights surround them. The patina that covers the whole is very smooth and dark brown. This is a beautiful piece from a collection of African art located in Belgium.
